Elgin Thompson is a Managing Director at Digital Capital Advisors, based in the firm’s New York City headquarters. Elgin has been an active advisor to or operator in the technology sector for the last 25 years. As a banker, Elgin has led more than 75 merger & acquisitions, public and private market financings, recapitalizations and joint ventures generating over $40 billion in enterprise value. He has worked with leading public and private companies active in the sector, including Google, Facebook, Intel, Disney, Time Warner, Nielsen, AOL, Neustar, Groupon, CDW, Catalina Marketing, Xerox, Level3 and EMC, as well as notable emerging growth companies such as Constructive Media, ListenFirst, Magnopus, InContext Solutions, Adbrain, Vidcaster, Collective, Smartclip, XOS Technologies and Veoh Networks.
Elgin is a frequent commentator in The Wall Street Journal, AdWeek, Private Equity Analyst, CNBC, Business Insider, The Street and The Los Angeles Times. He is a contributor for AdExchanger and regular speaker / panelist at industry conferences on the technology space.
Earlier in Elgin’s career, he has a member of the Technology and Media Investment Banking Groups at Bear Stearns and Merrill Lynch advising many of the leading companies in the industry. Elgin was SVP Corporate Development at GridNetworks, a streaming video infrastructure company backed by Comcast Ventures, Panorama Capital and Cisco. While there, he led strategic partnership, commercial and capital raising efforts. Elgin was instrumental in negotiating the sale of the company in 2009. Elgin began his career as a corporate attorney for Wildman Harold, DLA Piper and Arthur Andersen in their respective Chicago offices.
Elgin is a graduate of Northern Illinois University, Temple University Law School and received his MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
